Pest Control Sales at D2DCon 10.
One sale is worth very little. A street is worth a season. Pest is the trade where the house next door is worth more than the house you just closed — and Pest XP is two days in Sandy, Utah built around how pest actually sells.
The house next door is worth more than the one you closed.
Most home-service trades are built around the size of a single sale. A solar deal or a roof can carry a rep’s whole week. Pest works the other way round. One account is worth very little on its own, and the value only shows up when accounts sit next to each other on the same route, renew, and keep renewing.
That one fact changes how a pest sales organisation behaves. Route density is the economic model, not a nice-to-have. A rep who signs four homes around an existing account has usually done more for the business than a rep who opens a new street, because every one of those homes is cheaper to service and more likely to stay. Territory decisions, door order and even which streets a manager hands out on a Monday all follow from that.
Pest is also the most seasonally compressed trade in this event. A summer programme has to produce a large share of the year’s new accounts in a short run of weeks, which puts unusual weight on pace, consistency and the first few weeks of a rep’s season. And because the close happens on the same visit, the quality of what gets signed matters as much as the number: an account that cancels after the first service did not really count.
Route density.
Value is created by clustering accounts, not by finding the biggest single sale. Everything else in the trade bends around that.
Same visit.
Low ticket and a decision made on the doorstep. Speed is an advantage; an account that will not survive the first service is not.
A season, compressed.
Spring and summer carry the year. The trade is unusually sensitive to how fast a team gets moving and how well it holds pace.
A pest room, not a general sales crowd.
Pest XP runs a dedicated workshop room inside D2DCon 10: three rotations a day across both main days, six pest-specific sessions in total, alongside the main stage and the vendor floor. The session lineup is being confirmed now. These are the questions the room is built around.
Building density on purpose.
- How top pest orgs think about territory before the season starts
- Why clustering accounts changes service cost and retention
- Reading a route as a map of future value, not past sales
Signing accounts that stay.
- What separates a sale from an account that renews
- Where cancellations actually come from in the first months
- How the best teams measure quality, not just volume
Making a year in a summer.
- How the strongest pest seasons are paced from week one
- Summer programmes versus year-round pest selling
- What January planning looks like for a pest sales org
The pest vendor floor.
- Routing, field software and CRM built for recurring service
- Products, chemistry and equipment partners

An owners’ day first, then two days of pest.
A day for pest owners.
Pest company owners get a free, owner-only leadership day ahead of the main event, running alongside the D2D Games.
Owners Day details →Keynotes, expo, pest track.
Each main day mixes D2DCon keynotes, the expo hall and pest-only panels, so no part of the pest programme is squeezed into a single day.
Six sessions on routes and retention.
Pest XP’s own workshop room cycles three sessions a day, giving pest teams a full track without leaving the trade.
Small tickets, long tails.
Pest economics look modest at the door and substantial over time. The figures vary widely by company, market and service plan, so here is the shape of the model rather than numbers that would not hold for everyone.
Low per sale.
The initial service is one of the smallest tickets in home services. The real value sits in the recurring service agreement that follows it, which is why a pest sale is better understood as the start of a relationship than as a transaction.
One conversation.
Most pest sales are decided on the doorstep in a single visit. There is rarely a second appointment, a site survey or a spouse to reconvene with, which makes pest one of the fastest cycles in the industry and puts the weight on the first minute at the door.
Tied to what sticks.
Pest pay plans are commonly commission-based and often linked to whether accounts survive their early services, so a rep’s earnings depend on account quality as well as volume. Structures differ a great deal between companies, and comparing them is one of the conversations reps have most in January.
Spring and summer carry the year.
Pest demand rises with warm weather, and summer sales programmes concentrate a large part of annual selling into a short window. Year-round pest selling exists alongside it, particularly in warmer markets, but the summer model shapes most of the trade’s calendar.
Pest people, at every level.
Pest XP is built for the people who sell pest control and the people who lead those teams: summer reps deciding where to spend their next season, year-round closers, route and regional managers, and the owners of pest companies building their door-to-door channel. Bug Bux, the community for pest control owners, partners on the room and brings its network with it.
Because January sits before the season, the room tends to be in planning mode. Reps are comparing companies, managers are setting targets and owners are deciding where the year’s growth comes from. That makes it a different crowd from a mid-season event, and a better one for anyone trying to understand where the trade is heading in 2027.
The companies in the room.
Bug Bux, the community for pest control owners, anchors the pest room. Alongside it, the slots below are held for pest companies, route and service software, equipment makers and lead-generation partners. Confirmed names go to ticket holders first.

Before you book the pest room.
What pest reps, route managers and pest company owners usually want to know first.
Both. January lands right when summer reps are choosing their next company and year-round pest teams are setting their targets for 2027. The workshop room, peer panels and vendor floor are built for summer reps, year-round closers, route managers and pest company owners.
Trade shows are built around products, chemistry and technical education for the people doing the service work. Pest XP is built around the sales side: the reps, managers and owners who grow a pest company door to door. The vendor floor is there too, but the room is about how pest sells.
Pest XP is about the context the trade sells in: routes, retention, seasonality and where the industry is heading. Step-by-step pitch training lives at D2D University, which runs a dedicated pest control sales certification.
Yes, and January is a good window for it. Reps leave with a clearer picture of how the best pest teams run their season, and managers leave with a sharper plan for the routes they will work. If you are bringing five or more people, book a partnerships conversation and we will help with the logistics.
Bug Bux is partnering with D2DCon on Pest XP, bringing dedicated pest education and an expanded marketplace of leading brands to the vendor floor. More anchor partners across pest companies, software, equipment and lead generation are confirming. Ticket holders are told as each partner confirms.
